On Wednesday,” The Lagos State Governor by name His Exellency Governor Sanwo-Olu announced the approval of 85,000 Minimum Wage for Civil Servants in the state.
This announcement has made it the third time he has approved Lagos State workers salary structure since his takeover.
In the year September 2022 Sanwo-Olu promised the Lagos State workers that he will increase their Minimum wage. January 2023 he began the implementation of Minimum wage as promised.

He once increased the wage in the month of January 2024 before Wednesday announcement.
The Governor made this know to the public through an interview on a popular television show. He also highlighted the efforts made by his administration to reduce the effect of subsidy removal on workers.
“It is not a competition said by Governor Sanwo-Olu. It is a function affordability and capacity. We are not going to pay some people more than others.
Everybody knows that Lagos State is one of the most high costs of living in Nigeria. If you remember vividly we increased the minimum wage January 2024 and i will like to come back January 2025 to increase it to N100000.
This new update wasn’t to make anybody look bad, but because I want my people to have a living,”He said.
The new Minimum Wage approval is coming after the approval of 70000 Minimum wage by the Federal Government after their negotiations with the Labour union.
He said, ” Am here to let you know that a minimum wage of Lagos State is now N85,000 .
